"Thunder & Lightning"

At 4:30AM rumbles of thunder could be heard off in the distance. A fairly sharp cold front had arrived a little earlier than expected and was about to put on the first light show. |

The storm was fairly low topped sitting mainly in the 35,000ft range with a few individual tops of just over 40,000ft, however despite the low cloud tops it surely did produce an enormous amount of lightning. |

Some powerful CG's can be seen here as the front approaches (3 sec film exposure at EV 100). |

Yet another CG but much more powerful and much closer than the ones taken several minutes before located above. |
