"Finally Lightning"

n_pike.jpg (33485 bytes)

Well.. today was a good day for me. Everything was working out well from the morning and into the afternoon. I was out fishing for the majority of the day at a small lake north of the city to just do nothing all day :)

I had caught several small pike with the biggest being this 1 and 1/6 foot 1 or 2 year old Northern Pike.

Anyway with all this I was to busy to be interested in the weather for the day and figured nothing much was on the way and guess what.... I was wrong.
moving_in.jpg (19234 bytes) Shortly after I left the lake around 8:30 I noticed some TCU going up but they were heavily clouded over with stratus and cirrus clouds.

I noticed the first bit of lightning when I was nearing my house. I later than set up the tripod and caught some of the very first flashes out of the storm.
weak_1.jpg (13830 bytes) I like this pic but there is some noise.. (damn CCD)
curl.jpg (8138 bytes) Ooooooo look.. its ugly
weak_2.jpg (19957 bytes) The rain started messing things up as they were getting good.
weak_3.jpg (16060 bytes) Some CC activity
nice1.jpg (21081 bytes) Finally.. a break in the rain and no flash clutter
gamma_fix.jpg (19402 bytes) This was a good pic but the rain made it appear more sheetish than anything else so I corrected the gamma.
bright.jpg (14587 bytes) Eventually the flashes were over my head but.. the rain just messed everything up spreading the light like a blanket. To bad.. so I had to call it a night.
pike_nice.jpg (25852 bytes) Just had to give everyone another look at this pike
